Volleyball Performance Training

Volleyball is a sport combined of strength, speed, vertical repetition, and multi-directional movements. Volleyball specific training at the Sports Institute will focus on each of these variables to maximize the athlete's potential on the court. By incorporating integrated stabilization and strength equivalent exercises in our training programs, we are able to access, teach, and perform these exercise protocols to develop a well rounded player. Multi-directional movement in this sport requires a lot of strength and quickness to move your body into a position to block, set or hit. By increasing the upper and lower body strength a player is able to reach his or her position quickly and under control to block, set or hit in volleyball. Each athlete will also be assessed and monitored in corrective exercise training to prevent injury.
Volleyball players at the Sports Institute will perform Olympic and conventional strength training to develop power for vertical jump, rotary exercise for core development, over speed treadmills for speed and quickness training and volleyball specific drills to increase multi-directional movements.
